Chantilly’s on the Bay, a much-loved boutique hotel overlooking Port Vila’s Fatumaru Bay, was sadly damaged beyond repair in the devastating earthquake that struck Vanuatu on December 17, 2024. Following a careful assessment, the building was fully demolished, marking the end of an era for one of the city’s long-standing waterfront properties.
Plans are already underway to bring Chantilly’s back to life with a completely new, contemporary design that reflects the spirit and resilience of Vanuatu. While construction is in progress, the neighbouring Banyan Bar & Café remains open and continues to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner in its relaxed beachfront setting. You can keep up with Banyan’s latest updates and menus here: Banyan Bar on Facebook.
